HiddenChartFormatter connect null on line chart

I have a hidden search that creates a hiddenchartformatter but I have gaps in the data. In the report tool I can just connect null values and the report looks great. Is there a param that I can set to do this with the hiddenchartformatter? I looked through a lot of the documentation and did not find it.

<param name="charting.chart.nullValueMode">connect</param>

The other values are 'zero' and 'gaps', and 'gaps' is the default.
