Do DropdownInput and MultiSelectInput functions work in Splunk 6.2.6 on an HTML dashboard?

Hello

  • We built an HTML application in Splunk 6.3.3. The application works great and we are using the DropdownInput and MultiSelectInput to show the input fields in our application.
  • Last week we found out that we would need to make this application work in Splunk 6.2.6 at our work because they will not be migrating to the new Splunk 6.3.3 for a while.
  • After plugging in our application code which works fine in Splunk 6.3.3, we found that both the DropdownInput & MultiSelectInput fields will not even render and appear on the screen for Splunk 6.2.6.

My question is, how can we make sure that we are calling the Splunkjs libraries correctly and functions correctly in Splunk 6.2.6, and do both those functions work in Splunk 6.2.6 on an HTML dashboard?

Those inputs have already existed in 6.2, but 6.3 HTML dashboards may not be backwards compatible. Carry over your SimpleXML dashboard, convert to HTML on 6.2, and make the changes you need then and there.
Alternatively, consider sticking to SimpleXML with JS extensions, depending on what you need.

Also, have them go straight to 6.4 🙂

Nope, no idea 😞

You could diff the two HTML sources though...

I was able to get our application to work , by first creating a simple xml project in 6.2.6 , then I converted to an HTML dashboard in 6.2.6, after that I copied over the code (HTML, CSS, JS, resource libraries also) from our 6.3.3 application and it worked. Not sure why I had to first create a simple xml in 6.2.6 then convert to HTML dashboard, because this is exactly what we first did in Splunk 6.3.3, so it should be the same . Would you happen to know what is happening in the background to stop the 6..3.3 code from being copied ober directly into splunk 6.2.6.
