Getting Data In

log file type

Hi all ,

can anyone tell me wt is the type of the log file for the below given logs

2011-12-17 00:03:54,415  INFO [RMI TCP Connection(11631)-149.177.139.66] (com.prssom.evaluating.pm.index.IndexLog$2) - USER: system, ACTION: retrieving value for index id = 10861, effective starting at 20111216000000
2011-12-17 00:03:54,681  INFO [RMI TCP Connection(11631)-149.177.139.66] (com.prssom.evaluating.pm.index.IndexLog$2) - USER: system, ACTION: retrieving value for index id = 726, effective starting at 20111216000000

Whilst this may not be an exact answer for your question, I'm posting it as one as it is a fairly solid answer.

No! You need to ask whoever is sending you these logs, you can't keep posting snippets online and asking others to identify them, whilst the whole community is fantastic and I'm sure, more than happy to help with a whole range of problems - you need to know where you're getting your own data from!

Its the very basis of the product, at the moment it sounds more like you're finding random log files and throwing them in, which is a bit odd if true.

When you start taking data in from a team, department or a colleague sit down with them and figure out the important bits of data and what the sourcetype should be.
