Hello,
My client has an On-Premise controller which runs 3.5.7 version, 3 .Net agents and 1 PHP agent.
We would like to upgrade his system to the latest version, Iknow that first we should upgrade the controller, then the agents.
I am aware that the .config files were merged to a single file.
What are the best practices, tasts to perform before starting the upgrade?
Thanks, Nir
Hi Nir,
>> Following is the document which outlines the steps for upgrading .Net Agent to release which uses new configuration(3.7.8 and later)
http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Upgrade+the+App+Agent+%28.NET%29
Note : Running the installer would automatically migrate the old config for IIS Apps and Windows Service into the new config.
>> In case you want to monitor Thick Client Apps (Win Forms, WPF, Console) you can follow this document
http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Enable+the+App+Agent+for+.NET+for+Standalone+Applications
>> In case you are not already instrumenting Windows Services and would like to do so then use following document
http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Enable+the+App+Agent+for+.NET+for+Windows+Services
You would also need to upgrade the Controller to version 3.7.x
http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO13S/Upgrade+the+Controller
Also go through following if applicable
