My nodes and controller have a different system time (UTC) than what I see in the frontend UI (EST).

Hello,

I am running 4 CentOS Tomcat VMs monitored by a CentOS AppDynamics controller.  All 5 machines are synced to an ntp server to UTC time.  However, when I login via the UI, I notice that the data points are my local time (EST).  This makes it difficult to correlate events.

All my users and admin are EST, but would prefer UTC.  I tried looking in user settings but could not find anything.  Is there a setting somewhere to have the UI time synced with the controller time and not my local time?

Thanks!

Dan

Hi Dan,

Thanks for writing to the appsphere forum. We understood that you want to see data in UI in Controller timezone(PDT) where user/browser timezone is different(EST timezone). We confirm this is expected behaviour and there is no option to customize the timezone settings in controller UI. We request to install controller in EST and let us know if that helps.

We apologize for the incovenience caused.

Thanks,

Arun

Hi Arun,

Installing the controller in EST does not help because my environment that AppDynamics is monitoring is all UTC.

I found that Appdynamics uses my browser (system) time; if I change my local time to UTC, the change is reflected in the app.  Of course, this is a pain to do every time I wish to use AppDynamics. 😞

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the update, we understood your concern, as you observed you can change timezone in browser machine as a workaround, we show data in browser timezone in UI to maintain consistency for users viewing data in UI in different timezones, hope that clarifies for reason data shows inn browser timezone.

Thanks,

Arun

Hi Arun,

Is there any setup where I can set up The Controller UI Timezone to UTC, so that all the timezone will show the data in UTC. Which will helps For our debugging purpose.

Thanks
