How does the LDAP logon process to the controller work with users and groups?

As part of a POV we are looking at implementing LDAP authentication and are looking for a further understanding of how the process works with regards to users and groups.

For example if a group is granted permissions does the user also have to be configured within AppDynamics and if permissions are applied at a group and a user level what permissions will the user be granted.

If any further detail is required please let me know.

Hi Sharris,

I had also some difficulties to understand how LDAP integration works, as for me the documentation is not clear it should show more examples, so I created a short instruction which should help people to understand how it works.

See attachement for the instruction.

(please remember this instruction is just some of my notes, it is not professionally created instruction)

Hope it will help another people also.

BTW: Appdynamics Team, please create more examples in the documentation,

not only for LDAP but generally for all functionality.

Cheers,

Jarek Pietrzak

Hi Sharris,

Thanks for the post.

If LDAP authentication is implemented and a group is granted permissions , by default the users of the group are granted the same permission. Additionaly you have the option to grant permission/multiple roles to the user in the group.

Please refer the below document for additional information.

Please let us know if you have more questions.

Regards,

Swapna.
