Getting Error while configuring Email/SMS

Hi Experts,

I am using Appdymanics Lite. I was trying to set email alerts from appdynamics. The below details I have provided for configuration.

SMTP- Host : localhost

SMTP-Port : 8090 and tried with 25 also

But getting the error message when testing SMTp configuration. :" Invalid Email/SMS configuration specified : Cause exception reading response.

Can anyone please help me on this.

Hi,

Are you referring to Old Lite which we do not support any more Or you are referring new version of LITE where once pro license expired the ui downgraded to LITE version, please provide screenshot for UI for more clarity and error screenshot with email config in view to assist you further.

Hi Anitha,

Please be sure that localhost 8090 will not work in your case, as controller is already running on 8090 and we see smpt host localhost and at port 25 will only work if it is saas controller as in saas environment we set up smtp server separately but in your case it is local controller and if you do have setup smtp server on controller than setting smtp host to localhost and at port 25 will also not work even if we configure as per doc seciton:

If you do not have any smtp server setup on controller instance where controller UI on 8090 port is running , We request you 

to configure to smtp host as referred in below screen shot , update username and password with valid gmail account id from you end and provide password of that gmail account and see how it goes, Let us know if that information helps

to configure to smtp host as referred in below screen shot , update username and password with valid gmail account id from you end and provide password of that gmail account and see how it goes, Let us know if that information helps

Can you please explain where i have to configure SMTP, updating username and password ? and Port 25 is also not working for me.

Hi Anitha,

We mean lets you have smtp server setup on physical instance where controller is running than provide the smtp host as localhost (Or external ip of smtp server if any running at your network) and port smpt port of your smtp server, on premise controller does not come with inbuilt smtp server (smtp server is another server that serves in sending email notifications)

We request you to configure gmail smtp as refererd in screenshot provided earlier as it looks you do not have smtp server at your network, Hope that clarifies.
