Experience installing Events Service on non-dedicated hardware

I am in the process of upgrading my on-premise, Windows-based versions of my controller, EUEM Processor, and agents to 4.1.0.  When I started the EUEM upgrade on the EUEM server, I encountered a new screen indicating that I need to install Events Service.  In digging deeper, the documentation dictates that this needs to be on dedicated hardware.  I did not come across this when reading over all the release notes, so I definitely do not have a dedicated server available, nor will I be able to get one soon (if at all), and I am now in a "halfway upgraded" state.

If possible, I would like to install this new component onto one of the existing pieces of AD hardware, either the controller or the EUEM processor.  Has anyone done this?  Is there any technical reason this shouldn't be done?
