I have installed appdyanmics pro on-premise version of the software. The on-premise version doesn't allow to monitor databases (the saas solution allows).
How do I proceed?
Hi,
Can you provide the screenshot depicting the issue, from onPremise and also the screenshot from Settings -> License screen from controller UI ?
Also can you list the saas URL details and screenshots you are referring from saas ui so that we can check the difference in license details?
Regards,
Arun
Attached are the screenshots and here is saas url - https://optymyze.saas.appdynamics.com/controller/#/location=AD_HOME
Hi,
This feature is currently in Beta as per doc: http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO39/Database+Monitoring+Beta+Release+Notes
and also it could be the case either controller version in onPremise instance does not include the feature referred as stated in doc link http://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO39/Setup+Database+Monitoring+on+Windows , Hope that clarifies.
Regards,
Arun
So what would be the solution? There is no way to do database monitoring with the on-premise solution?
Hi,
I had setup 3.9.x controller in local and could see the "Database Monitoring" in local controller UI in home screen, Can you check the controller Verion you installed and also the output of the following query issued at the controller db instance:
shell> cd <Controller_dir>/bin
shell> controller.bat/sh login-db
mysql> select * from application \G;
We see application name "Database monitoring" does not exist in 3.7.x controller version application table and this could be exepected as this is introduced in 3.9.x controller version. Please confirm the controller version and we suspect the version is less than 3.9.x versin and that could be the reason here for missing DB section.
Regards,
Arun
I see the appdynamics pro version as 3.9.3.0, build 20 and
Below is the output of the query on mysql db

It is strange that even after having the installed version as 3.9.3.0 I do not see Database Monitoring. What are the next steps?
Hi,
I just replciate the issue and i could see the application name "Database Monitoring" in application table but found no "Database Monitoring" section in 3.9.3 UI , this could due to feature hidden in latest version as this is in Beta.
results from local:
We request you to try and 3.9.1 version and see if that helps to show the section in local controller.
Regards,
Arun
How do I download the controller installer for 3.9.1 ?
Btw, when I login to saas url - https://optymyze.saas.appdynamics.com and click on About Optymyze I see the version as 3.9.3 build 20. Database monitoring shows up there.
Hi,
We got confirmed from our experts team as part of our internal discussion that this is due to no DB Monitoring agents as part license allocated to your controller where Database Monitoring option is missing. We request you to get intouch with your sales representative/account manager to get appdfordb license for to upgrade your license to have DB Monitoring units to that you will see this option. Hope that information helps.
We initially requested the License screen details to confirm and see if this is the case but the requested details have not been provided hence we thought to replicate in all. We request you to upgrade license as suggested above and see how it goes.
Regards,
Arun
