Controller Not Showing Any Data

Hi,

I've installed the on-permise controler and install the Java Agent & Machine Agent (extended for Redis monitoring). The controler is deducting the two agents and I'am able to see it on the console.

But when I run some transaction on Redis , I'm seeing any activity on Controler console. Also i've receided the below exception.

Note: Controler is running on Linux and all the application and agents are running on my laptop.  Thx

Hi Mohan,

The error pasted might not be related as such error raises when machine agent is not associated using uniqueHost id as per doc suggestions https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO39/Configure+Multiple+Standalone+Machine+Agents+for+One+Mach...

Regarding redis agent showing no data, Can you confirm whether JVM data for redis ajva agent node shows fine in UI under node dashboard -> memory tab if jvm data shows fine it could be the case that no OOTB BTs discovered, to debug the same

Can you please send the following logs:

a) zipped version <agent_install_dir>/logs

b) screenshot from controller UI depicting the issue

We might need to define custom pojo rule manually from Configure -> Instrumentation -> Transaction detection screen, if no supported interceptors are instrumented in logs.

Hi Arun,

Let me provide more information.   I have installed Node.Js, Redis and Cassandra. I've configured AD Agents and all are up and running.

All these 3 instances are visible in Controler as well. I assume that AD agents are up and running and it is connected and registered with AD controler.But none of em reporting any transactions. Pls let me know the link to configure the custom BT , I will try.

1) Also as you have requested, I've attached the logs files and screen shots.

2) In Memory Tab: I did not see any data on Memory Tab excpet the data shown in the attched the screen shot.

Note: All these applications are running on the same box.

Hi,

- Can you provide agent logs for case-1 node captured from UI as referred in below screenshot:

- We understood that you have checked machine agent custom metrics under Analyze -> Metric browser as we see custom monitor metrics will not be shown under node dashboard and will show only in metric browser popup

-  We do not see any traces related to Cassandra monitor from provided machine agent log

We see below error in machine agent logs:

In my case, Cassandra is using java App Agent and Redis Server is using Extended Machine Agent & Node.JS is using different AP instrumenting script. If this is the case, I should provide UNIQUE configuration for each App, Tier, Node & hostid for the above mentioned layer/Tier. Correct me If i'm wrong.

Also i could not see any of the statistic on the AP Controler. hence I'm doing something wrong entirely.  If possible pls send me meeting invite, we will have quick conversation to sort our this issue.

I will provide the Cassandra Agent log sson

Hi,

We see from machine agent logs that application name is different one and not "My App" and we suspect you are trying to associated multiple agents or machine agents and also from screenshot it looks you are in LITE version "AppDynamics_Screenshot.png" and we see you cannot raise help ticket and hence we cannot get into a web call, and we might need to continue using this community itself.

Can you please check whether there are multiple agents are trying to associated at Controller UI, if yes, please check with one appserver agent and for redis can you confirm if leaving password field blank in config.yml is expected?

Regarding other query unique host id jvm arg is not required as you are using LITE version and if you are not usign more than license units allowed as stated in doc link https://docs.appdynamics.com/display/PRO40/Lite+and+Pro+Editions

Hi Arun,

I was having Pro version , but it was expired 2 days back (note: the problam was there from the day one). I though, once the trial version is working fine then we move to by licence.  But I could not up and run the App Dynamics controler and agents sucessfully.

After the PRO version, currently I'm having Lite version as per the provided licence, I'm using 1 Java Agent, 1 Node.js & 1 Machine Agent.

As I have mentioned, 3 applications are running on my desktop-A machine and controler is running on in another desktop-B. There is no connectivity issue between Machine A & B.

I have provided the configuration below, pls validate. Also let me know If have to define custom trxn.

Java Application:

      Using 1 Java Agent

      application-name= ‘cass’
      tier-name= ‘cassandra’
      node-name= ‘Cass-1’

Node.JS Server

     Using 1 node.js

     applicationName= 'Ingestion'
     tierName= 'NodeJS’
     nodeName= 'NodeJS-1’

Redis Server

      Using 1 Machine Agent (Extend Redis Monitoring)
     name=RedisMonitor
     #prefix used to show up metrics in AppDynamics
      metricPrefix:  "Custom Metrics|Redis|"

      no password

Note: I've not see any transaction flow on controler. But all the agents are registered on controler. What I'm expecting is, it should atleast show some activity on the controler in any one the applications.
