upgrade app - best practises

I need to upgrade an app in splunk and in the docs of the app, it is not mentioned whether splunk needs to be restarted, so I tried to search for some general best practises of app upgrade in splunk but I couldn't find something in that direction.
Is there something like that?

Hi,

Yes, you need to restart splunk when you upgrade app/add-on. After restart upgraded configuration will be effective.
