I had this same issue on Ubuntu 12.04. I fixed it by changing the first line of the setup.sh script to explicitly call /bin/bash and not /bin/sh.

Thanks, it worked for me on Ubuntu 12.04.4 with Add-On version 5.2.3

In Ubuntu this happens because calling /bin/sh actually calls /bin/dash.

itghelp@splunk:~$ file /bin/sh
/bin/sh: symbolic link to `dash'

Thanks, that's an interesting resolution. When I get a chance, I'll see if that is viable for all the platforms that we support with the TA.

Do you know what version of bash you have on that machine? Also, it would be great if you can open a support case so we can get a diag from you.
