You install the app by using the Splunk standard app installation process:
- Click on Manager in the top right corner.
- Click on Apps on the Splunk>Manager page.
- Click on the "Install app from file" button.
- Click Browse and navigate to the tar.gz file you downloaded for Sideview Utils.
- Check the "Upgrade App" checkbox if Sidevew has been installed before, then click upload.
- Restart Splunk after installation is completed.
As far as using Sideview Utils, it's a learning process but an enjoyable one. Once Splunk has restarted, click on App in the top right corner, then click on Sideview Utils in the resulting menu. Read though the excellent documentation and examples, then start playing with the Sideview modules, you'll be making custom views in no time.
