how to integrate splunk with MHN

I am trying to integrate splunk with MHN server as part of my set up for my school project, but when i type in ./install_splunk_universal_forwarder.sh 127.0.0.1 9997 i get the error message in the screen capture.
please help me out.

Looks to me like when it tries to download the splunk forwarder your system can't negotiate the SSL properly. This can be caused by a filter or proxy not allowing SSLv3 due to policy, but I also came across a post that older versions of curl would throw the same error. I can't tell if the splunk forwarder install uses curl as part of it's download/install but if you haven't run apt-get update/upgrade lately I would try that.
