bytesSent & bytesReceived in Cisco CMX Logs

Hi,

Currently I am using Cisco CMX App for Splunk to onboard Cisco CMX logs into the Splunk environment, and the logs are sent to Splunk in JSON format.

I am trying to understand two of the fields in the logs, namely bytesSent and bytesReceived. The problem with these two fields is the values are constant throughout their session and it does not increase over time which seems strange when a user connected to the Internet and not downloading or uploading for the rest of the session. Also, if the user disconnect and reconnect after a certain period of time, the values still remain the same as the previous session.

I am starting to wonder if these two fields are actually showing the bandwidth usage? Or just the bandwidth limit that a particular user is allowed to use?

Appreciate if anyone who has experience in Cisco CMX logs to share their findings!

Thanks in advance!
