All Apps and Add-ons

Why am I getting a 500 Internal Server Error trying to set up the Splunk Add-on for Atlassian JIRA Alerts?

I've copied the directory structure to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/splunk-add-on-jira-alerts.
I've copied the defaults directory to local.
I log in as admin, go to app management, and select Setup on the splunk-add-on-jira-alerts line.
This gives me a 500 error (Internal Server error).

In my case I was using Splunk Enterprise 6.2.4 and version 0.9.0 of the JIRA alerts. Upgrading to version 6.3.0 of Splunk Enterprise got around this problem

It was 6+ months ago when I saw this problem so my memory is a little hazy but looking at my notes that was the only solution I could find at the time. I'd suggest taking a look a Splunk 6.4 which has some fantastic new features. The overview application is here - and 6.4.3 is due to be released any day now.

You can always spin up a development instance in AWS or on Vagrant to try it out and the Jira integration is much more seamless to integrate in the newer version. It's worth taking a looks to see if this version is for you.

Is upgrading the Splunk Enterprise the only possible solution to this situation....??? I am using Splunk V6.2.3, and am facing the same issue.
