What's the difference between Splunk Add-on for Kafka and Kafka Connect Splunk?

I saw this Kafka Connect Splunk in GitHub here below:

What's the difference between this and The Splunk Add-on For Kafka app?

I'm pretty new to Kafka but we got this request from customers where the requirement was to push topic messages from Kafka to Splunk.

How can I achieve this?? I was just researching and found these two ideas.

Kindly guide as I'm a newbie to Kafka but not to Splunk.

I can't speak to what other Kafka-related apps do, but the Splunk Add-on for Kafka is built by and supported by Splunk, and it provides a modular input that allows you to ingest Kafka topic messages into the Splunk platform.
