Splunk Technology Add-on for Windows on the universal forwarder

I have installed the Splunk App for Windows on my search head and the TA on the indexers as the directions indicate. I am unsure why I need to load the TA on the forwarders as stated in the directions. My windows clients already have the forwarder with all the event logs forwarding to my indexers. Looks like I am seeing that data in my Spluunk App on teh search head.

Does anyone know what the addition of the TA will accomplish?

The TA_Windows contains a number of scripts and inputs that are not included in the Universal Forwarder.

In the TA_Windows you should look at inputs.conf, perfmon.conf, and wmi.conf.

The scripts are located in the bin directory.
