Splunk DB connect 3.2.0 compatibility with python 3

Hi,
Is Splunk db connect 3.2.0 version is compatible with python 3 on Splunk version 8.0.1?
Since I am getting below error while saving JAVA_HOME path with jre8

a bytes-like object is required, not 'str'

But if I change version to python 2 then I am able to store JAVA_HOME path without any error.
Please help.

Hi @hakon_nor,
I tried replacing code with yours in jre_validator.py but due to which I am getting error as- An exception was thrown while dispatching the python script handler and Cannot communicate with task server, please check your settings.
and unable to load any option in splunk db connect. Kindly help. Is there any other things need to be change?
