Splunk App for WebSphere Application Server: Can the 64-bit version of Splunk run on 64-bit platforms?

I am preparing to install WAS app on splunk. I am reading the document. It is noted in the document that "Be sure to download the correct version for your platform; In particular, ensure that you run the 32-bit version of Splunk on 32-bit platforms".

Why not 64-bit versions?

That guide is making sure you don't install a 64 bit version of splunk on a 32 bit OS. It's saying that it would be possible to run a 32 bit version of splunk on a 64 bit system, however the reverse isn't true.
