Splunk Add-on for Amazon Web Services: Why am I getting "'SSL Error' object has no attribute 'status'" adding a cloudtrail input?

I'm getting the following error adding cloudtrail input when I select my region (next step is to select SQS):

Failed to fetch data: In handler 'splunk_ta_aws_sqs_queue_names': Unexpected error "" from python handler: "'SSLError' object has no attribute 'status'". See splunkd.log for more details.

We've seen something similar with one customer who had some sort of transparent proxy breaking their SSL... they had to edit a boto library file to disable SSL verification to get it to work. Function connect_sqs() in taaws/s3util.py, add is_secure=False.
