Splunk Add-on For Zenoss: How to resolve error "Splunkd daemon is not responding...'The read operation timed out'"?

When trying to integrate Zenoss with Splunk with the Splunk Add-on For Zenoss, I'm getting below error.

Encountered the following error while trying to save: Splunkd daemon is not responding: ("Error connecting to /servicesNS/admin/TA-zenoss/data/inputs/zenoss_events: ('The read operation timed out',)",)

Any help on this would be appreciated..

We had a lot of issues with this an abandoned it. We ended up going to Cacti and had success there. Cacti was incredibly easy to implement.
