Splunk 8.0.1 App for Unix and Linux

I'm doing a new install with 8.0.1 and want to install the Splunk App for Unix and Linux that is compatible with ver. 8.0.1. to collect data. I have a HF, SH Idx and Deployment servers. The document doesn't mentioned 8.0 anyone knows if it will work?

The Splunk AddOn for Unix is validated against 8.0x
The Splunk App for Unix has not been updated for 18 months or so, which is why it does not specify version 8.x

In my experience the Unix "App" does not get used much, its a bit limited in what it can show you.

If you are looking for metric data on your unix (and/or windows) hosts, instead try looking at "Splunk App for Infrastructure"
