SPLUNK OSSEC

I just installed the current version of Splunk 5.3 on my CENTOS 6.3 laptop (vm) on top of OSSEC 2.7. There is an option at login for Splunk Server. I have no idea what the password is (neither changeme, nor my user or root passwords work). I also cant get the OSSEC OR SPLUNK gui up on the browser at HTTP: //127.0.0.1:800 Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. i assume that the login that is showing as splunk server is tied into my install of splunk ossec app. How do i get the gui to show via the browser at this time?

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:8000.

Do you get any error messages when you start Splunk? When you start Splunk it will also tell you the port that it is running on.

/opt/splunk/bin/splunk start
