Password encryption - Splunk add on JIRA

We are integrating splunk with JIRA using “Splunk Add-on for JIRA”.

This add-on expects us to save password in clear text inside Jira/local/inputs.conf file.

For security reasons we do not want to store it as plain text inside this file.

Can you suggest us a way of storing it ?

Would Really appreciate your help here.

Hi

Splunk usually crypt those passwords on APP/local/xxx.conf files. You could test it with some random password and if it will be something like $1$ (or $6$, $7$) then it's crypted after restart of node. Splunk decrypt it when it's need, but keeps crypted version in disk.
