Is there a way to add metrics via Splunk Add On Python Mod input?
Python helper function documentation here (https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/AddonBuilder/3.0.1/UserGuide/PythonHelperFunctions) doesn't specify adding a metric.

Thanks.

Solved it myself. Need to format the data into one of the metric protocols (Statsd, Collectd, etc) and use the same ew.write_event(event) interface.

Hi cheburakshu,

Can you give some example of the data format? Should I still use the helper.new_event() to create the event and just dump the data that is formatted into Statsd or Collectd format?

Your response is much appreciated.

Thank you.
