Is it possible to send custom data feed to REST-based simple receiver to my Splunk Cloud?

Is it possible to send a custom data feed to say the REST-based Simple Receiver to my Splunk Cloud instance, or do I need to configure a forwarder on a local Splunk instance?

The simple receivers are available once the API port is accessible,.

However it is not accessible on self service SplunkCloud and trials, only on large SplunkCloud deployments.
