Installing eventgen under Windows 10

I cannot get Eventgen to install under Windows 10. I have read the tutorial (several of them), and no luck. I keep getting:

Unable to initialize modular input "modinput_eventgen" defined inside the app "SA-Eventgen": Introspecting scheme=modinput_eventgen: script running failed (exited with code 1).

I am using the latest Splunk release and installing Eventgen from within the app. Can't find any info on this error (surprisingly.)
