Home Monitor: How to configure ASUS RT-N56U router?

I'm loving the look of Home Monitor and really keen to make use of it. I have an ASUS RT-N56U router and happy to help out in any development to support this router.

The router config allows you to enter a "Remote Log Server" but documentation on what this does is limited or non existent. Entering my Splunk server IP address seems to do nothing as it still seems to log to the internal router log and Splunk doesn't show anything (I have the UDP 514 Data Input set up).

If anyone has this working for an ASUS router I'd love to hear how you got it going.

I managed to get this sorted. I'm running Splunk Enterprise on a Windows 8 Pro OS. I needed to open port 514 in Windows Firewall.
