I'm setting up the JMX app today as well, and this was the first error I got.

I fixed this after I noticed that the app was installed under the wrong user account. Our Splunk 6.1 had been started with the wrong username. I corrected some issues on the server to ensure that would not happen again.

Well I cannot say "working properly" in my case because I have a different issue I am pursuing, but for the specific error "Introspecting scheme=jmx: script running failed (exited with code 1)" - yes this fixed it.

The JMX app files need to be owned and accessible by the user that is running the spunk process. When I found the mismatch, and corrected it, then the JMX data input could show up in the list. Reboot if you find and fix a permissions issue.

To make sure I understand you, Splunk was set up to run under the worng account, and once you fixed this, the JMX app started working properly?

I do not have DB connect installed that I can detect? Is this another App that I should install that works together with the JMX app? Let me know and I will install.

I keep getting same error:
Splunk cannot find "data/inputs/jmx".
This page was linked to from http://mdc2brc0301:8000/en-US/app/jmx_ta/landing_page.

What/how builds the subdirs of ./data/inputs/jmx? This does not exist on my svr
