DNS configured for UDP input, but NOT ALL Hosts resolving...

Hello all -

I found configuring the UDP data input for syslog events to use DNS resolution instead of IPs very simple; however, it has worked great but only for our internal domain. It will not resolve any other domains within my corporation's WAN. Would this be something neeing configuration within Splunk Manager or is this only manageable within AD?
