Custom App -> Configuration Files

Hi,

I need some documentation about custom configuration files for splunk apps. I could not find one. I need a UI where the user could define some configurations parameters for the application.
For example: An app uses 10 hosts. One of the host is out of service. Therefore, the user should have the capability to remove such host using UI.

Is there a good documentation about it?
