Copying an app from one splunk installation to another

Hi There
I had a contractor develop an app for me on one splunk server, now I'd like to copy it over to another, unrelated server. How do I go about doing that?

Thanks

Manually, you take the app directory in $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps from the source server and copy it to the same location on the target server, then you restart the target server.

For many instances consider using the deployment server to deploy the app.

By now, you can also use the App Exporter to get .spl files from your app, and then install them as usual: https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/2613/

Beware that all the App Knowledge Objects are shared at App Level, because private Objects will not be copied!
Bye.
