Can we use different directory for Splunk data input app than default?

Hello Experts,
I need to know if we can use $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/scripts//bin as data input app directory than $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps//bin?

If you look at the "Package and publish a splunk app" docs page, there's a section on where you should put scripts. Maybe this answers your question?
