Can Java for DBConnect be installed from the RHEL/CENTOS Repo?

DBConnect was installed following the instructions provided via SplunkDocs install guide
https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/DBX/3.3.0/DeployDBX/Prerequisites

Now my vulnerability scans keep coming up with findings on old Java versions although it seems up to date when i run a

java -version (which is seeing the installation of JDK from our RedHat repositories)

I have been having to update Java manually to the /opt/java folder that was being hit on the scans.

I would rather this be automated by maybe modifying the $Java_Home to /etc/alternatives/java/jdk/ and just let Redhat handle the Patches?
