I know that Splunk can send alerts to email addresses, we are doing this on a daily basis, what I want is send alerts to a cell phone number. How can I achieve that?
Splunk cannot currently send SMS messages. Most carriers provide their own email to SMS facility, this is usually an email address. Check out this Wikipedia article for details on the address format: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway#Carrier_Provided_Email_or_Web_to_SMS_gateways
Do you guys know of any bug where splunk can only send text message ( email ) to some of the recipients?
We are seeing this issue, where out of 10 listed users only 2 are getting text messages.
The best way is to use WeekWill.com. It sends out SMS alerts or make a call to you as soon as you receive an email in maximum of 30 seconds. It also works in all the countries.
Just send email to text message...

Good approach, but might still need to modify/replace the sendemail script. Splunk's default options could go over the 160 character limit for a single text.
