It said on the details page all v6 will not be grandfathered when the new platform comes in september. Should I take this now or will v7 also not be grandfathered?

current Splunk Fundamental 1 (splunk User) exam is for v 7.x so you can give now and you don't need to wait.
The candidate who holds out-of-date legacy certification (V6.3 or older) are required to complete the full certification track / recertification.
