Wildcard indexing of subfolders on Windows PC - Pulling my hair out!

Ok, so for a couple of hours now I have trying to index some log files and it won't do it!

I need to index log files contained within logs directory, and any of its sub-directories (see example below). In "Data Inputs > Files & Directories" it shows that it can see 7 files, however it only ever indexes one file located in the logs directory.

C:\ProgramData\Bitdefender\Desktop\Profiles\Logs\da29f7c8-23b1-4974-8d11-209959ac694b\1362699141_1_01.xml

INPUTS.CONF
[monitor://C:\ProgramData\Bitdefender\Desktop\Profiles\Logs]
disabled = false
followTail = 0
recursive = true
sourcetype = BitDefender Scan Log

I have tired numerous different variations of adding the data, and also variations on the inputs.conf. I am really at a loss, can anybody offer any advice at all please.

Regards

I'm confused on something - is that one directory name? Couple things to check if so

  1. Make sure there are 2 colons " : " between monitor and the first forward slash.
  2. Put a backslash between the "C:" and "Program
  3. Its my experience that the path name is case sensitive so make sure spelling and case is correct
  4. Shouldn't need to end with a wild card even if you are getting sub directories
  5. IF each capitol letter is a directory name make sure you put backslashes as appropriate

In your inputs.conf try the following:

[monitor://C:ProgramDataBitdefenderDesktopProfilesLogs*...*]
