Why am I unable to return any results with the appendcols command?

I have a search where I get a value "SplitID" that, along with another ID, gets put into a table. However, I am using SplitID in my appendcols search to return a field called Reason and using head 1 to return only one value to append to the table. However, with the appendcols, the table does not return any results. Any ideas?

Can you share you current search? appendcols will add a column to an existing table, sounds like what you need is append
