Is realtime alert a feature with Splunk Cloud? I go to save a search as an alert and it defaults to a scheduled search, and there's no option to select realtime.
Thanks.
Real-time search is disabled by default in Splunk Cloud. If you want it enabled, please contact support and they can get it enabled. Once enabled, please make sure you limit which users can run real-time searches since it will have an impact on all users when these searches are run.

Awesome... Thanks!
There is almost never a valid use-case for Real-Time. If there is, the output should be something like Phantom that can respond in a fully automated way. If this is for humans, just don't
What's your recommendation for wanting to be alerted near real-time on events meeting trigger thresholds? Thanks.
For "near real-time" run a scheduled search every 15-minutes. The overhead on this is trivial compared to real-time which locks 1 CPU core on the search head and EVERY INDEXER. It is horrible.
@woodcock
Got it. Thanks.
