We are trying to set up a connection to MSSQL database with dbconnect version 1.1.4 .

See this error when we try to save the connection:

"Encountered the following error while trying to save: In handler 'databases': Error connecting to database: java.sql.SQLException: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication."

any suggestions?

You should be able to do it.

What operating system are you using on the Splunk server you are runnnng db connect on? The key information is the last line of that error. if db connect is on a Linux host it won't be part of a trusted domain

Have you followed ssievert_splunk advice?

I suspect DB connect running from a Linux host or a windows host on a different domain

For the sake of testing can you try using sql authentication instead of windows authentication?

A couple of thoughts:
- Upgrade to the latest DBConnect version (1.1.6)
- When connecting to MSSQL, install the official JDBC driver from Microsoft
