I am trialing splunk and have installed the splunk otel collector but nothing is appearing in the console, the access token shows 0 hosts tied to it.

Here are some common items to check for troubleshooting:

Check local logs to see if Otel is generating errors or failing to start on your host. In Linux, /var/log/messages may have clues. In Windows, filter windows event viewer by “collector”.

Make sure your host has outbound network access to reach Splunk Observability Cloud.

Make sure your token from Splunk Observability Cloud is correct in your Otel configuration.

Make sure your REALM is configured correctly in Otel configuration (examples: us1, us0, etc)
