Which is Splunk enterprise latest stable version?

We are going for Splunk Enterprise fresh installation. So looking for which is latest stable version of Splunk Enterprise and along with justification.

Splunk 7.1.1 Is the latest and stable version.

However, if you use Data models there is an outstanding issue which you should contract your account manager about.
It seems a solution is very close, and there are workarounds, but they are not publicly documented yet.

If data models are not something you need immediately, 7.1x is a good place to start as it has new features for performing future updates without disruption.
