When will Splunk Enterprise 8.0.1 (version with timestamp fix) be available? What version of Splunk ES will be fully supported with Enterprise 8.0.1?

Hello!
May be you can help us to clarify something about 8.0.1 release date?

It's very important information, due to the critical bug: https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.0.0/ReleaseNotes/FixDatetimexml2020

We should update our installations while we still have some time or downgrade our cluster version.

There's currently patching process documented at https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.0.0/ReleaseNotes/FixDatetimexml2020.

This fix works regardless of the versions, and till 8.0.1 is release, should be used to patch your existing systems. Instructions for how to deploy and test that the patch is applied is in the above link and should be followed explicitly.

Regarding the 8.0.1 and 7.1 releases, its not just a patch for the datetime.xml, there are other bugs that our QA and engineering teams have spent a lot of time resolving that will be in the releases. Again, if you just want the patch for the datetime.xml issue, you can follow this link : https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.0.0/ReleaseNotes/FixDatetimexml2020.

For 7.1 and 8.0, the next releases are still going through GA, so release dates can't be confirmed but the target is middle of December.

We understand your frustration, it's shared. Please talk to your account representative and express these concerns and make sure your voice is heard! It helps us also to improve our processes.

I don't have the answer about when... but there will be a new version of ES. Keep an eye on the compatibility matrix:

This is unacceptable. You guys should release 8.0.1 immediately by just including the fix and whatever is planned for 8.0.1 should be released as 8.0.2 at a later time.

Please see this documentation ASAP : https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.0.0/ReleaseNotes/FixDatetimexml2020

Patching, UAT, and validation are all documented in this list.

We need 8.0.1 for the timestamp fix, and we are close to jan 1st 2020. And you have advertised it for a long time.

Exactly. We need it ASAP as well.
