Web Framework set textinput size/width?

I have a web framework page with a textinput inside a dashboard-cell, and was wondering how to set the size of the textinput?

<div class="dashboard-cell" style="width: 500px;">
{% textinput id="search_box" value="$search_args$"|token_safe default="" style="width: 500px;" %}
</div>

Setting the width does not seem to work.

Add something like

input[type="text"] { min-width: 70px; max-width:130px;}

to your application.css.
