Is it possible to use Backbone.Router from the Web Framework to update URL's based on selections made to a particular view?

{% block js %}
    {# JavaScript goes here #}
    <script>
        // Load the required libraries
        var deps = [
            "splunkjs/ready!",
            "backbone"
                  ];
                  require(deps, function(mvc, Backbone) {
                          var Router = Backbone.Router.extend({
                routes: {
                },
                tokens: function(token) {
                }
            });
            var router = new Router();
                   )};
