How to you get the input name from inside your TA?

All, 

I am completely new to this forum and I have managed to get my first TA working. I need to understand how you get the "input name" from the Inputs area. I was hoping that I could use helper.get_arg('input_name') to get the value. 

Again thanks for any information on how to pull that value.
