Why am I unable to login to Splunk Enterprise?

Hi Team,

I have installed Splunk enterprise Free version today. I am unable to login to Splunk and I am receiving the following error:

Error: User and password are incorrect. 

Please assist.

In Splunk Enterprise version 7.1.0 and later, your initial login credentials are username=admin and password=the password that you specified during installation.

The credentials that you use to log into the Splunk Enterprise software are not related in any way to the credentials that you created on splunk.com when registering to download the product.

You can wipe the password by removing passwd file. If you do this, you will be instructed to enter a new password at the login page

$SPLUNK_HOME/etc/passwd

*Note, this will wipe all other users you created

Did you try turning it off and on again, eh, I mean, did you try uninstalling and reinstalling it?
