Splunk APM enhancements

  • APM Error Based Troubleshooting: helps engineering teams to get deeper visibility into service errors out of the box. Users can now view a breakdown of service errors by the exception type and the http status code on the service view. Additionally, you can easily navigate to the relevant traces for a specific error, to quickly identify the root cause. Learn More.
  • APM Service Centric Navigation & FilteringService Maps in Splunk APM help engineering teams understand interactions and quickly identify error sources within complex application environments. We’ve redesigned the service map layout in this release, to make it easier for users to get a bird’s eye view of their environment, with just the right top level information. Learn More.
  • APM Service Map Redesignprovides an intuitive way for users to navigate to and slice data on the service view. With this update, users can use the Landing Page navigation cards to go to service scoped pages such as Tag Spotlight and DB Query Performance. This allows for seamlessly viewing all service health data in a single pane of glass. Learn More.

More Splunk Observability Cloud releases

  • Synthetics Excluded Files: We are excited to introduce the Excluded Files feature for users to have the flexibility in configuring what resources their Browser tests will load on a page. By excluding certain files, users can prevent skewed analytics due to third-party services and individually test performance of a page with and without specific resources to see the impact on customers. Learn more.
  • Log Observer Search Experience Enhancements: We’re releasing a new “cancel search” functionality to help users gain more control over their log queries by cancelling a log search whenever one is active, allowing them to eliminate workflow inefficiencies and reduce their SVC consumption as well as resource waste. Learn more.
  • SSO Default Role: When onboarding new Splunk Observability Cloud users, admins who aren’t able to enable Unified Identity can now select what the default role will be assigned to users in the Organization (Non-Enterprise Customers: Admin & Power; Enterprise Customers: Admin, Power, Read_Only, Usage) for more control on user’s scope and privileges. Learn more.

  • Magnetic Page Header (coming soon): We’ve made UI changes in the Observability Cloud wide page headers  to drive a more cohesive experience and enable users to understand where they are in the product. The header includes branding and utilities that trigger menu dropdowns, like profile, help, and notification hub icons.
