Where do custom javascript files need to be copied for a dashboard to reference?

In Splunk Dashboard examples app, there are some dashboards which reference javascript files.
Where do the javascript files need to be copied for the dashboard to find them?

The javascript file needs to be copied in the same app folder as the dashboard using it:

$SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/<appname>/appserver/static/  

Splunk needs to be restarted after the javascript file has been copied

For further clarification, A restart of Splunkweb only is needed.

splunk restart splunkweb
